Veterans Day 2005 - Dove Release

On Tuesday November 11th, 2005 our weekly Peace vigil was dedicated to the memory of all fallen Veterans, and the continuing quest for peace, not war, as an instrument of foreign policy. The peace prayer was symbolized by a release of doves by Julia Gaunt.

In the beginning...
Demonstrators came in large numbers for Veterans Day.

The number grows...
Their messages were varied, but expressed the same desire for peace.

Still coming!
Chapter 099 President addressed the crowd with a detailed speech.

Postcards from the Edge
Released one by one, they climbed into the air, creating a circle formation.

Faces of Peace
They waited until the last one joined the circle, formed a "V" and flew home to Weaverville.

Demonstrators and passerby onlookers followed the event, filled with awe and joy. The Doves complete the homeward bound journey in about 15 minutes. Julia Gaunt's Dove release is a service, which she performed at no charge for our event.
